Rules & Regulations
Introduction
The Working Gundogs NZ Rules & Regulations provide the official framework for conducting gundog trials and events throughout New Zealand. Whilst they were based on the Working Gundogs Australia Association, that have been adapted to be relevant for New Zealand hunting and testing conditions
These rules ensure that competitions are conducted fairly, consistently, and in a manner that reflects the traditions, ethics, and practical skills of working gundogs. They establish clear expectations for competitors, judges, officials, clubs, and event organisers while maintaining the highest standards of sportsmanship and animal welfare.
Whether you’re entering your first trial or officiating at a championship event, these regulations help ensure a consistent and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
